Are Girls Smarter Than Boys?
Here is another 1 million-dollar question: “are men smarter than women?” “are girls smarter than boys?” These are not the type of questions with a simple yes or no answer. Neither of the two answers can ever be correct. You will only kick-start a debate that has the potential to be explosive. Nevertheless, many couples have gone all the way to have a male or female child as their preferred gender in addition to what they already had.
Therefore, it is important to look at this issue from various perspectives to arrive at a rational, not sentimental, conclusion about which of the two genders is better.
In the Beginning
Going into reproductive systems, men appear to be at smartness advantage in the beginning. A male child’s brain is bigger and heavier than that of a female. However, that seems not to give any special advantage. Females’ brains attain maturity faster than males’. A girl-child also reaches psychological stability before a boy-child.
This has been explained as a function of a small nerve and cell on the left side of the brain. In females, it grows faster. And this also explains why a typical baby boy is more restless than baby girls. The female babies are calmer as fetuses and neonates or even as toddlers. Therefore, girls are more intelligent and teachable than boys early in life.
For instance, it has been observed that about five or six months after birth, a baby girl can move her fingers more accurately and pick up or hold objects. While a boy would be able to move his fingers likewise but the movement is for the most part aimless, targeting nothing in particular. At that stage, boys’ reflexes are still slow and do not quickly have a sense of fear. But a baby girl cries loud as she catches sight of perceived dangers.
Based on these facts, are girls smarter than boys? These facts alone are not enough to conclude whether or not males are smarter than females. And, they do not make her smarter than him!
Smartness or Cognizance?
The above facts show that girls are more aware and cognizant of things happening around them. Many public commentators have been carefully dodging the argument because of the embarrassment it can cause for either gender. To prove that one is the smarter gender, you may have to dress down the other gender, which is not ideal in a modern free society.
If someone wants to take girls’ cognizance for smartness, it will be helpful to look at the other side of the coin. Some may also like to hold that boys are smarter than girls since they are physically stronger. This physical strength enables boys to learn new experiences that require raw energy to experiment with. Meanwhile, engaging in physical activities outside the home increases human mental capabilities and the ability to learn. You can argue that boys, by experimenting with building construction, tree cutting, gardening, physical and challenging tasks, are smarter than girls.
Still, are girls smarter than boys in that wise? Because girls are homier, they are more cognizant of their environment. They pay attention to details or nature and everything they are dealing with. This makes them smarter than boys as they can think more deeply about what they focus on and become creative and imaginative. Proponents of the notion that girls are smarter than boys have argued that cognizance makes girls smarter than boys. They are more sensitive to dangers than boys.

Another angle to the argument of girls being smarter than boys is thought processes of and decision making. Granted, girls reason things think deeply but too quickly to be deep enough. Boys generally think matters through to identify a problem and proffer practical solutions. That is why they do not have the time for the talking or aimlessly chatting on the phone.
Girls quickly give in to their emotions and make known experiences. Thus, girls can be smarter than boys in art and theaters. For instance, girls like to thrash out ever minute details about issues.

Venturing out of the family setting, boys display more maturity and prove to be smarter than girls. It has been established that boys from childhood like to play with folks and friends outside the home. This has made them more intelligent than girls. They do better in sports and games, both indoor and outdoor. They usually invest their childhood in playing soccer, baseball, other highly physical and less physical but fast-paced game. Boys naturally reap their investments in the form of being more intelligent.
On the other hand, women are good planners of these events because they can settle down and work out schedules.
In Conclusion
Are girls smarter than boys? Not really! Are boys smarter than girls? It depends on the perspectives. So the clear ground is that both have their unique endowments and abilities. Some scientists put it in a way like this: women are more sensitive, emotional, and romantic while mean are realistic, rational, and factual.
